Accessibility
Access for people using wheelchairs or pushchairs is possible to the whole of the ground floor including the medieval courtyard, dungeon, the armoury and Great Hall. A manual wheelchair is available for use within the castle on a first come, first served basis. The Castle Keep is situated on a man-made 11th century mound and entry to the castle is therefore via a steep slope. The castle has lots of steep stairs and narrow corridors, therefore pushchairs cannot be taken beyond reception or the castle courtyard. Pushchairs can be left in reception.
