The experience

About this day out

The Redruth Old Cornwall Society, founded in 1922, runs a museum in the heart of Tolgus Tin, one of Cornwall's most important industrial tin mining sites, with exhibits ranging from the local Redruth Brewery to locally-sourced precious stones. Many of Tolgus Tin's machines have been restored to working order and can be seen in action on tours, including the Cornish Stamp, believed to be the only remaining stamp of its kind in Europe. The site is shared with Cornish Goldsmiths Treasure Park, a free-entry attraction, and some areas of Tolgus are not entirely waterproof, so visitors are advised to bring wellies if it's raining.
