About this day out
Oakham Castle's Great Hall is the finest surviving example of Norman domestic architecture in Europe, built between 1180 and 1190. It reopened to the public on May 30, 2016 after extensive refurbishment funded by a £2.1 million Heritage Lottery Fund grant. The site offers a varied program of events for adults and children, daily activities for children, and educational sessions for schools.
