The experience

About this day out

Gwrych Castle is an imposing gothic ruin on the picturesque North Wales coastline, with spectacular sea views and impressive architecture. It gained fame as the filming location for I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for two consecutive years. A major programme of restoration work began in 2025 to rescue the main house.

Accessibility
The castle was built into a hillside, so the estate has uneven ground, steps, slopes and steep footpaths. Many paths on the standard visitor route are unsuitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and three-wheeled mobility scooters. An alternative route avoids steps but includes a slope leading to the Coach House Courtyard, which may be demanding for wheelchair users and anyone assisting them. The gardens and Chapel are currently reached by steps and do not have wheelchair access.
