Accessibility
The ground floor of the House is accessible, though there may be some narrow doorways; lighting levels are low in places and seating is available in some rooms. Access to the main floor is via steep spiral staircases and there is no lift, so there is no wheelchair access to the main floor; a tablet providing a virtual tour is available. An accessible toilet is available (there may be a narrow access point), seating is available inside, large print resources are available throughout the House, and there is a short introductory video with audio on the ground floor and an audio tour of the first floor at the entrance desk. Large print, transcripts and braille resources are available at the ticket desk, and staff and volunteers are available to assist. The majority of paths within the Gardens are level or gently undulating with a smooth gravel surface; the steep incline on the Classic Bridge can be avoided by a short signed detour, and benches are accessible throughout the Gardens. The Café floor is flat and step-free with automatic doors. Assistance animals are welcome, with drinking water available for them at the Café.
Parking
The public car park is situated just off the westbound A4, clearly marked by a brown tourist board entrance sign, with space for 60 cars including 3 spaces for Blue Badge holders, approximately a 5-minute walk to the House. Accessible parking closer to the House can be booked by emailing info@chgt.org.uk; spaces are limited and booking is required.
Dogs
Annual dog show and puppy training classes are held; assistance animals are welcome and drinking water is available for them at the Café.
