The experience
About this day out
Abbey Pumping Station is a Leicester museum where visitors can discover how the city's Victorians kept clean water flowing, featuring four restored Gimson & Co beam engines that run on steam on special event days. It has hands-on exhibits on science, industry, transport, health and hygiene, a rare collection of vintage vehicles including buses and fire engines, and its own narrow-gauge railway. The site is set in lovely grounds with outdoor exhibits, a technology-themed children's play area and a sensory garden.
